OUR WORK WITH THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

I DO THIS
True Chicago and the Chicago Blackhawks collaborated on a program focused on creatively telling the story of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, highlighting youth voices, experiences, and community impact.
The program was designed to empower the community to tell its own story—fueled by the Chicago Blackhawks. We worked with artists and mentors to co-create this story. We were working in collaboration with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation to spotlight how the team is helping grow the game of hockey by empowering the local Boys and Girls Club of Chicago. Specifically, we created a story about the impact of a new kids' floor hockey program—and how it’s meaningfully shaped the lives of young people and their families.

BLOCKS AWAY SHOWCASE
True Chicago has proudly formed a dynamic partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation, uniting to empower local artists to tell local stories and spotlight community organizations on the West Side.
Through this collaborative initiative, we proudly unveiled the inaugural True Chicago Artists Collective. This group of five exceptionally talented artists, each bringing their distinctive skills to the table, have crafted a captivating centerpiece project. Akilah Townsend, the photographer, Kory Powell, serving as Creative Director, Sakyrah Morris S-O-S, contributing as a singer and songwriter, Oluwaseyi Adeleke, the Designer, and Steven ‘Tuck’ Tucker, leading community engagement efforts.
Together, they highlight the impact that The MAAFA Redemption Project, The Bloc, the Firehouse and A Better Chicago have created in our community. Their film will be featured at a Blackhawks Game on February 13th along with a live musical performance by S-O-S.
